old Silk Floss Tree at Aamir Kanji Gardens

Aamir Kanji Gardens is located in one of the leading hospitals of Karachi, Aga Khan University Hospital. These Gardens are named after Kanji family, who have generously donated $ 2.5 million for this Noble cause. The gardens are contemporary adaption of Islamic landscape and located around Jenabai Hussainali Shariff, Ibn Zuhr and Nazerali Walji Buildings along the walk way.

The main attraction of these gardens is 128 years old Silk Floss Tree (125 years old at the time of inauguration of the gardens in 2013), which is one of the oldest in Karachi. This tree is resistant to drought and moderate cold, so it’s ideal for Karachi environment.

Other then this prominent tree, there are other 100 different species of tress in the gardens and two mini pounds. The gardens are not used for the recreational purpose by residents of Karachi. It’s providing surreal to the patients, their attendants, doctors and nursing staff and those who visit the Aga Khan University Hospital.

We are regular visitors of The Aamir Kanji Gardens as we are taking our father for his treatment to this hospital. We meet this tree every time we go there as it’s besides the clinics of gastroenterology clinics. Pray for the health of my father and everyone who is sick.

Note: This tree is no longer there and my father died in 2016. May Allah give him highest reward in Paradise. Ameen
