How to Travel from Dubai to Jabal Akhdar?
There are two ways to travel from Dubai, the financial capital of the Middle East, to Jabal Akdar, located at Al Hajar Mountains range in Ad Dakhiliyah Governorate of Oman.
Below are two ways to Travel from Dubai to Jebel Akhdar:
- Dubai to Jabal Akhdar via Flight
- Dubai to Jabal Akhdar By Car
1. Dubai to Jabel Akhdar via Flight
This option is not quite worth it as there is no much time saving in reaching Jabal Akhdar from Dubai via flight. The flight time is similar to that of reaching by road if you consider all the time for arriving at the airport, immigration, security checks, boarding, flight time, landing, disembarking and time on other activities. There are various airlines that have daily flight from Dubai to Muscat, the popular ones are Emirates, Oman Air and Fly Dubai. Once you reach Muscat Airport, you have to drive from there to Jabal Akhdar.
From Muscat Airport the journey to Jabal Akhdar is through Rusayl, Fanja, Izki and Birkat Al Mouz via Highway 15. The road is good and travel time is somewhere around 3 hours.
Travel Advice: Book Rent a Car Online at Muscat Airport via RentalCars. Only 4×4 cars will be allowed to go to Jabal Akhdar.
2. Dubai to Jebel Akhdar By Car
The road journey from Dubai to Jabal Akhdar can be done on any type of car – Saloon or 4×4 but while ascending on Jabal Akhdar only 4×4 vehicle will be allowed. It is important to note that there will be UAE – Oman Border crossing on the way, so keep all the documents with yourself like Passport, Resident Card, Driving License and car documents. As Jebel Akhdar is located on height, it is highly recommended to check the brakes of the cars prior to mountain ascend as there will be steep slope on the return. You can Rent 4×4 vehicle online
To reach Jabal Al Akhdar from Dubai, the nearest border will be Al-Ain border. From Al Ain Border, you need to drive to Ibri and Bahla via Highway 21 and from there to Birkat Al Mouz (near Nizwa) via Highway 15. It’s approximately 6 hours journey but economical and a memorable road trip.
