Guide: How to Travel from Skopje to Ohrid by Bus?

Skopje, the largest city and capital of North Macedonia, is located on the course of the Vardar River. Skopje is the most famous tourist place in the country, while Ohrid, the largest city on Lake Ohrid and located on the southern part of the country near Albania, is another popular tourist destination in North Macedonia.

The best and economical mode for travel between Skopje and Ohrid is via bus.

Skopje to Ohrid by Bus (Avtobus)

Skopje to Ohrid trip by bus (avtobus) takes around 3 hours and 30 minutes. The bus from Skopje will start from Skopje Central Bus Station (Google Map location: https://goo.gl/maps/KA3sPUYeGC8wCcd59)

There are basically 3 Bus service daily from Skopje to Ohrid and Ohrid to Skopje:

  1. Galeb – Ohrid
  2. Delfina Tours
  3. Classic Company (Klasik Kompani)

They all have different timings and a little variation in pricing.

1. Galeb – Ohrid Bus Timetable and Price

Galeb-Ohrid Bus is the most famous bus service between Skopje and Ohrid and its recommended to use for Ohrid to Skopje travel and vice versa. The bus is big and has 50 seats.

The ticket price per person is 490 Macedonian Denars (Macedonian Denar is the currency of North Macedonia) or 8 €. This is price for one way.

For two way (return ticket), the price is 750 Macedonian Denar or 12€ per person. You need to buy the return ticket at the time of purchase, which is open for one month.

Galeb Bus starts from Skopje everyday at 6:00, 8:00, 10:00, 12:00, 14:00, 16:30, and 18:30 hrs.

Galeb bus from Ohrid (to Skopje), starts at 5:30, 7:30, 10:45, 12:45, 15:00, 17:45, and 19:00 hrs.

2. Delfina Tours Bus Timetable and Price

The ticket for bus by Delfina Tours is 460 Macedonian Denars or 7.5€ per person. This is also a big bus with 50 seats.

The bus starts from Skopje, at 5:30, 7:00, 9:00, 14:45, and 16:00 hrs everyday.

3. Classic Company Bus Timetable and Price

The bus by Classic Company, also written as Klasik Kompani, starts everyday from Skopje at 11:00, 12:30, 19:30, 20:00 hrs. The bus has 20 seats and ticket cost  is 460 Macedonia Denars or 7.5€ per person.

Places to Visit in Ohrid, North Macedonia

There are some great places to see in Ohrid, like Samuel’s Fortress, Old City Park, Church of St. John at Kaneo, Church of Saint Sophia, and Ancient Theatre of Ohrid. But the most outstanding place remains the Lake of Ohrid.
